John Monash: Engineering enterprise prior to WW1.

Monier arch bridge, Ford's Creek, Mansfield, Victoria.
Half cross sections, behind abutment and at mid-span.
Based on the drawing of 23 July 1903.

Note: This image has been digitally scanned and cropped. Contrast has been increased to remove background pencil grime etc, and other blemishes have been removed individually.

The half-section at the abutments shows the spandrel wall based on a thick block of lime rubble concrete. Above this, the brickwork diminishes in thickness in steps from 2'-3" to 1'-1½"
